Works Beginners Run Club
Lunchtime saw the start of a Beginners Run Club at work, which I’m helping to lead with a recently qualified LiRF colleague. 7 new runners turned up and we’re broadly following the NHS Couch to 5k plan, so today was a 5 minute brisk walk, and then 8 lots of 1 minute run, 90 seconds walk, finishing with a 5 minute brisk walk back to work.
Everyone did fantastically well, and we covered 2 miles in the session. Already looking forward to next week.
2nd CrossFit session of the year (and week!), and this time it was a car crash! Overheard Squats are a nightmare for me due to years of ignoring stretching and flexibility, coupled with limited strength! I quickly went from a 20kg bar, to a 15kg bar before finally managing to be able to work with an empty 10kg bar! With some being performed it that weight, I managed to work back up to lifting 20kg again, but lesson learnt about stretching!
The WOD was Randy. I managed to get it done in 6 minutes 34s, but was only lifting 20kg – perhaps I should have been lifting a little more (note for self, try 25kg next time). Heres a YouTube video of the pros doing it properly:
Day 21 – Just a Run
A tempo one at that, but 5 miles over the usual lunchtime route.
